Sir Walter Scott Monument George Square

Problem

George Square is the principal civic square in the city of Glasgow, Scotland. The square boasts an important collection of statues and monuments, including those dedicated to Robert Burns, James Watt, Sir Robert Peel and Sir Walter Scott. The 80-foot-high (24 m) column in the centre of the square celebrates author Sir Walter Scott. It was erected in 1837. It was in need of restoration.

Solution

Naughton Masonry Ltd carried out a structural analysis of the 24 m high Sir Walter Scott Monument and carried out restorative work to repair this impressive structure.
