Our property has had numerous coats of masonry paint applied since and before we bought the property in 1982. Daniel is one of a now rare breed of stonemason, who is in every way an enthusiast about stone and stone-built properties. The removal of the layers of paint was a truly mammoth task but they persevered, applying numerous coats of a chemical substance and hot washing the paint off. Daniel never resorted to a stronger grade of chemical for fear of stone damage (corrosion), thus prolonging the job, which he completed at the pre-agreed price. The house was then beautifully pointed with a lime, stone and sand mix. Daniel also warned of the detrimental effect that cement has on natural stone. He never uses cement on it.
